Animals I Have Known is a selection of Clay Waters’ published poems -- reflections on the poignant melancholy of memory, the animals that enter and leave our lives, and mordant musings on mortality and the afterlife.

Waters has published in dozens of poetry journals, including Green Hills Literary Lantern, Roanoke Review, Santa Clara Review, Trampoline, and New English Review, where some of these poems first appeared. He has also published short fiction in The Headlight Review, Dark Horses: The Magazine of Weird Fiction, Broad River Review, and Viridine Literary.
